Tele Headstock Inlay

  The original Ov guitars logo didnt really fit comfortably on the tele shape headstock, so Steve and i decided on an ivy and floral type inlay running up the headstock.  I'm going to use the Ov logo shape and turn it into a flower.

   In this photo you can see i've cut out the pieces of green abalone and im now scoring the outline with a scalpel.

   The stem of the ivy is epoxy mixed with walnut dust which has been sanded flush to the surface.

    The abalone pieces are 1.6mm thick so i've used a mini router to make a depth of 1.5 mm for the pieces to sit flat and just proud of the surface.  Later they will be sanded flush.  If the routed areas are too shallow you run the risk of removing the colour and figure from the abalone during the sanding process.
